UNIT I: संगीत की परिभाषा एवं संक्षिप्त इतिहास।
Unit II: 
निम्नलिखित शब्दों की संक्षिप्त परिभाषा - नाद, श्रुति, स्वर, ध्वनि, सप्तक, अलंकार, वादी, संवादी, अनुवादी, विवादी, पकड, मींड, आलाप, तान, सम, लय, ठेका, थाट
Unit III: 
संक्षिप्त परिचय : धु्रपद, धमार, ख्याल, ठुमरी, लक्षण गीत, सरगम राग ज्ञान- यमन, देस, असावरी, काफी, भैरवी
Unit IV: 
जीवन परिचय - पं. भातखन्डे तानसेन
Unit V: 
ख्याल को निम्न रागों में लिपिबद्ध करना - यमन, भैरवी, देस। ताल लिपि - त्रिताल, एकताल, कहरवा एवं दादरा का परिचय एवं उनका ताल लिपि में लेखन
