Objective: 

To familiarize the students with the in depth study of the origin and development of
kathak dance.
CLO 2 To make the students learn and understand the notation skills used in kathak dance.
To help the students understand the technical terms used in kathak dance.
To familiarize the students about the contribution of the various kathak maestro in the
field of classical dance.
To help them attain proficiency in advance techniques of kathak.
To familiarize the students with the different new aspects of kathak dance.

Unit I: 
हस्त मुद्राएँ (असंयुक्त) - सर्पशीर्ष, मृर्गशीर्ष, सिंहमुख, कांगुल, अलपद्य, चतुर, भ्रमर, हंसास्य, हंस पक्ष, संदश, मुकुद, ताम्रचूड, त्रिशुल, व्याघ्र, अर्धसूची, कटक, पल्ली नटन भेद (नाट्य, नृत्त, नृत्य)
Unit II: 
पारिभाषिक शब्द : परन, चक्रदार परन, कवित्त, गुरुवंदना, स्तुति, गतभाव अंग, प्रत्यंग, उपांग, प्रिमलू
Unit III: 
जीवनी एवं योगदान : बिन्दादीन महाराज, सुंदर प्रसाद, पं. बिरजू महाराज।
Unit IV: 
सीखे गये बोलों को लिपिबद्ध करने का अभ्यास। पाठ्यक्रम में निर्धारित तालों को ठाह (बराबर), दुगुन, चौगुन को ताल-लिपि में लिखने का अभ्यास। ठेका - रूपक, एकताल, धमार।
Unit V: 
अभिनय दर्पण के अनुसार पात्र लक्षण का वर्णन। सीखे हुए बोलो को लिपिबद्ध करना।
