Objective: 

To introduce the students with the different forms of folk dances in India.
To make them aware of the rich cultural heritage of India.
To discuss with the students the very basics of different folk dances such as hand
movements, costumes, rhythm etc. to make their foundation strong.
To familiarize them with the various theoretical aspects of the various folk dances in
India like the customs, traditions, costumes etc.
To make them learn the basic difference between the Indian classical dances and folk
dances.

Unit I: 
• Definition of Folk Dance, Classical Dance & Tribal Dance. • Types of Folk dance and Classical Dance, their similarities & differences.
Unit II: 
• Folk dances of Rajasthan (Traditional / Seasonal / Devotional) (Ghoomar / Kalbelia / Terah Taali / Chirmi / Panihari / Gair / Bhavai ).
Unit III: 
• Instruments & costumes of Rajasthani Folk Dances.
Unit IV: 
• Basic knowledge of the following Folk Dances of India (Dandia, Garba, Lavni, Koli)
Unit V: 
Basic knowledge of the following Folk Dances of India : Tribal, Bhangra, Giddha, Bihu
