Objective of the activity: To show the training attained by the students perusing different COSD Programmes in the Dept. of Performing Arts
Description: The Department of Performing Arts organized a 1 Day Cultural Extravaganza “Kala Sangam" on 22 March, 2024 wherein the students of COSD programmes in Kathak, Vocal Music, Folk Dance & Theatre performed classical forms of their respective arts. The program featuring a blend of dance, music, and theatre was an immersive artistic experience that captivated the audience and showcased the rich diversity of performing arts. The event brought together talented performers who delivered a memorable performance.
The program was divided into several segments, each highlighting different aspects of Kathak Dance, Folk Dance, Vocal Music and Theatre. Following is the details of the different performance:
1. Students of Kathak started their performance with an invocatory piece of guru vandana followed by traditional todas, chhakkar and footwork.
2. Students of Vocal Music started with Alankar, followed by Sargam Geet, Chota Khayal and Holi songin Raag Kaafi.
3. Students of Folk Dances presented a amalgation of folk dances of 4 Indian states namely Rajasthan, Punjab, Kashmir and Maharashtra. First they all did individual performances on folk songs from respective states and in the end all the students did a piece on bollywood song.
4. Students of Theatre performed short play Ja.... soooos", which was a mix of comedy act revolving around a murder mystery at an orphanage. The novel thing about the play was that the audience sat in the middle and the actors revolved around the space around to audiance to demark the different rooms in which the scenes of the play take place.
